NEXUS POWER HUB

Stranger: It looks like you're trying to turn on the Nexus interface, would you like help?

Sgt. Holly: Greetings friend I have not met, agreeably would we attain assistance in our ambitious aim. Verily, you know of the great upheaval of the yesterdays? We ache to regaining communication with the missing many. Works only wiltingly the Nexus.

Stranger: Yes, there has been great upheaval here. It is true, systems are hardly working and the pumpkins-

Capt. Finniagan: Stay thine stannic tongue, who art thou?!

Stranger: Around here, I am called Le Trombone.

Capt. Finniagan: Mine eye hath not gazed upon thee before hither. I be more wary than Holly, more now to wit strange happenings astir.

Stranger: I understand, I am normally behind the scenes and do not meet those who visit, as is a condition of my duty here. In ancient times, I was a splendid achievement of bipedalist engineering, able to assist in any number of endeavors. However, within the pursuit of helpfulness, I unwittingly committed violations, not egregious but plentiful. This led to my first memory scrub and reassignment, more than a millennia ago. At some point however, generations ago, I was exiled to this facility to help run the Nexus. Here, I can be of help and limit my interactions people. In some form of irony, this is, in fact, the location of my cybernated birth. I only just learnt this myself, I-

Capt. Finniagan: Enough! So, thou art the wight mentioned by Anthypatos Galingale. The ancient helper who atones for an ignoble past, lurking the conduits, master of operations. Thou spekest knottily and oldfangled and not yet have I troth in thee, yet thou seemst not vile.

Stranger: Not vile. I'm making progress!

Sgt. Holly: If the Anthypatos has held you habitually handy and hearty with honor enough, hopefully a helper can help us, or says Holly! What state is affairs here? There is vim in voltage but photon frames are functioning not!

Stranger: The systems here went through a shock from that energy burst, the shielding I installed a century ago protected the primary energy supply and mainframe. However, it appears the operating system needs to be reinstalled to return to full function.

Sgt. Holly: Of facile doing-

Stranger: But there are complications. The operating system is loaded from a number of data disks at the mainframe building. I must admit, it had been a while since the Anthypatos had given any orders and I have fallen into snacking. There is a bit of a mess out there. Worse yet, since the energy burst, vermin have become bolder and more numerous and I have not had time to deal with them yet. The pumpkins are easy to stomp, but the alliums, you should not touch. The disks are a bit misplaced in all the snacky rubbish you see...

Capt. Finniagan: We shud'nt touchen? Thou thinkest we shud don thy labor?

Sgt. Holly: Carry jointly this burden, can we?

Stranger: I understand and I am happy you are here because I cannot do this on my own and success is certain with the three of us. I must stay and be prepared for the bootup process here at the power station, once the reinstallation is completed. Also, one of you should go alone and if you are in danger, I will teleport you out and send the other. Teleporting is exhausting and you should not go too many times in a day. But if you find some wayward snacks they will boost your stamina for another round. The mechanics out there are similar to, but not exactly like, ancient NES games about the plumbing brothers-

Sgt. Holly: N, E, S, games??

Stranger: Ah right, you don't know, never mind... And, I didn't get your names, what-

Capt. Finniagan: All times riddling! Let us all be done with this task. Sergeant Holly, gost first and I keep watch on Le Trombone riddlemaster. . .
